IN HONOR AND MEMORY OF

BOBBY DEAN EVANS

11 October 1960 18 June 2007

On Monday 18 June 2007, Animal Control Officer Bobby Dean Evans, 46, lost his life in the line of duty in Bellmead Texas. Officer Evans was shot to death by a cowardly assailant while performing his duties as a professional Texas Animal Control Officer.

Services were held in Bellmead on 22 June 2007. Over 100 Animal Care and Control agencies and organizations were there to pay their respects. Members and Officials from the Texas and National Animal Control Associations, along with the Humane Society of the United States and the ASPCA also had an number of representatives there. It was humbling to see such tribute paid an honorable and deserving man.

Officer Bobby Evans was loved and well liked by many, as represented by the over 500 co-workers, friends and associates that came to pay their respects. The funeral precession was at least 5 miles long. Bobby was also a Fire Fighter for the City of Bellmead. That Department also lost a beloved and valued member. The internment was at the Waco Memorial Cemetery where a full military graveside service was performed. Bagpipes played as mourners gathered and taps sounded with 21 gun salute. Every branch of law enforcement was represented there also.

Officer Evans was the type of officer and person we should all aspire to be, a professional in his duties, and compassionate in his actions. Bobby loved his Lord and that is what made him love people and animals alike.

There has been a Memorial Fund set up for his wife Debbie, and children at:

We urge every one to help by contributing at least $5.00 to assist the family of a fallen fellow Officer. Also, a press conference was held with representatives of the city police, city officials, and representatives from the HSUS, ASPCA, TACA, NACA, Texas Academy of Animal Control Officers, and Fuzzy Friends Rescue. There has been $20,000 pledged by these organizations as a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) committing the cowardly heinous act.

I Know that Bobby Evans is in the arms of the Lord and resting in peace. Thank him in our prayers for his sacrifice and a job well done. Via con diez mi amigo.

We will see you again. Chief Alan R. Spence PO/CACO
